A foreigner wishing to register a trademark in Thailand must appoint a local Thai agent by granting them power of attorney.  

Registering a trademark in Thailand gives the owner the ability to seek statutory penalties and damages for unauthorized use or copying.

The statutory penalties for unauthorized use or copying of a registered trademark in Thailand is 2 to 4 years in prison and/or a fine of 200,000 to 400,000 Baht.

Trademark applications are submitted to the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and take approximately 6 months or more to process.

Trademark protection starts on the date of filing the trademark application with the DIP.
